Overview

Join our workshop on Social Justice in Action - Addressing Race Relations in 21st Century. We'll explore complex issues surrounding race relations, examine their root causes, and explore practical solutions for addressing them. We'll focus on promoting social justice and racial equality, and discuss ways individuals can become effective Equity Agents. By the end of this workshop, participants will have a deeper understanding of race relations and practical strategies for promoting social justice and racial equality in their own lives and communities. In this keynote, participants learn a framework and common language for the four pillars of Social Justice. We explore what we all need todo to effectively engage across cultures and undo systems of oppression. This framework considers the importance of deepening awareness of self—moving from color blindness to racial cognizance; increasing knowledge of others and their experiences with systems of oppression; developing skills to effectively engage across cultures; and advocating and taking action to dismantle institutional racism and other forms of oppression.

Key Objectives:

To examine the root causes of racial inequality in today's society: Gain a shared understanding of key terms. The workshop aims to provide participants with a deeper understanding of the systemic racism and implicit bias that perpetuate racial inequality in our communities.

To explore practical solutions for addressing racial inequality: Through interactive activities and discussions, the workshop aims to equip participants with practical strategies for dismantling harmful systems and promoting racial equality. Learn a framework for the work we need to do to engage effectively across cultures and undo systems of oppression.

To promote allyship and elevate marginalized voices: The workshop aims to emphasize the importance of allyship in promoting racial equality and encourage participants to listen to and elevate the voices of those who have been historically marginalized.

To empower participants to take action: By the end of the workshop, participants will have developed a deeper understanding of the complexities of race relations in modern society and will have gained practical strategies for promoting social justice and racial equality in their own lives and communities. The workshop aims to empower participants to take action and make a positive impact in their organizations and communities.
